4 Steps To Getting Out Of A Slump

CLICK PLAY

This is one of the most comprehensive interviews I’ve done on a 7-step process I teach in my private success coaching programs. Because of the time limit of live TV, I was only able to deliver 4 of points, but if you are in a slump in your business or life right now, these points will definitely help you start pulling out of it right now.

Here are some key points to remember:
1.) You do not necessarily have to do all the steps to start pulling out of a rut
2.) You do not necessarily have to do them in order.
3.) Any one of these steps can help you get out of any rut, slump, stall or cycle that is holding you back from the success you deserve.

Check out this short video interview and let me know some of your favorite success tips for getting out of a rut. As always, I look forward to your comments.

How to handle fear like a 6-year old

Callie Jean rocking her fear away

Callie Jean rocking her fear away

I had an amazing experience this past weekend that I felt I must share with you. This is a little longer blog than I would normally post, but I really hope this helps you with your Mission Accomplishment or, at the very least, brightens your day.

Saturday night, my 6-year old daughter, Callie, sang a duet with her classmate in their school’s talent show. They sang the song “My Favorite Things”, and Callie has been practicing for weeks, ever since she found out she qualified for the talent show.

Saturday night she was happy and excited, and her always-optimistic mood never wavered even as we walked into the packed auditorium where she was to perform.

But as the other kids performed–some singing, some dancing, others playing instruments (one girl even read her own poetry and a 5th grade boy brought the house down with a stand up comedy act about his mother!)–I could see Callie get a little more serious.

She was sitting next to me, head down, rubbing her temples. I asked if she felt alright, and she said, “Yes. I’m visualizing.” When I asked her what she was visualizing, she explained she was imagining having excellent posture, smiling big, having a strong voice and remembering all the words to the song. She told me she also hoped everyone would like it, so she visualized the audience clapping.

When the time came to perform, she and her friend took the stage. They nailed their performance! Callie’s voice was strong and true. Her posture confident, her smile bright as ever. They got a huge ovation and both left the stage feeling amazing about themselves and what they’d just accomplished.

When she ran into my arms, I congratulated her and asked how she felt. She told me that even though she had ‘stage fright’ and felt like throwing up, she remembered her visualizations and had a blast actually performing!

Now, I share this with you because I hope you take something really important away from this story.

First, while Callie ‘visualized success’, she didn’t concentrate on the end result. She wasn’t praying for a great outcome, she was focused on doing her best in each aspect of the performance. She visualized the steps it took to get to the outcome she wanted. And while the emphasis was on the action, she still paid due respect to the desired outcome as well (and got it!).

Second, she was scared out of her wits, but delivered her best anyway. It is hard to quantify what any of us might feel at any given moment in our journey, but I know my little girl, and fear has nothing on her. For her to feel nauseous is really something; for her to step into fear and push it away doesn’t surprise me, though.

You see, Mission Accomplishment is about feeling the fear and doing your best anyway. It is about being clear on your desired outcome, creating a plan for execution, then taking the bold action…even in the face of adversity. You ARE good enough for your dream. You deserve success, so go get it.

I hope this little story about Callie’s courage helps you as you approach your missions in business and life. Have an amazing day, and kick butt this week.

Masterminding is more than ‘brainstorming’. Masterminding is the focused and collaborative sharing of ideas aimed at discovering and creating solutions. It is a powerful byproduct of the combination of the Inner Genius of two or more people; the blending of talents, ideas, passions, wisdom, experiences and Vision.

My coaching programs are geared toward facilitating this kind of energy share, and the results of these sessions have been increased productivity, greater clarity and direction, streamlined processes, and less resistance and more fulfillment in career and life.

How have you used masterminding to get yourself to a higher altitude? If you are currently stuck, how COULD masterminding help you get back on track? As always, I look forward to your comments and appreciate you input.

Personal Development Is Bunk

You have been fed lies and BS. If you are a fan of the self-growth/personal-development industry then watch this video. Right now, you have everything you need to accomplish anything you want, and the reason that’s true is because the potential that already exists within you does not need to be “improved”, it just needs to be realized. Check out this short video and see how uncovering your personal excellence is a key aspect to mission accomplishment. Whether your focus is on business strategy, personal goal setting or peak performance, it all begins with the excellence that already (and always) exists within you.

Share it on Facebook and Twitter and let me know your thoughts.

Your Inner Genius is Calling: ANSWER IT NOW

Have you ever had a great idea that you didn’t act on, only to find out someone else brought it into the world? That awesome invention, the book that teaches people something cool, or a better way of doing something that improves people’s lives; we’ve all had them, not acted on them, and they seen the manifestation of the idea on TV or in the stores and thought, “I FRIGGIN‘ THOUGHT OF THAT!”??

Frustrating, right?

Well, it gets worse.

You see, only YOU can create your Vision; only you can make that amazing idea what it truly can and should be. Even if someone rips you off or imitates your idea, no one else can create, duplicate or do it better than you.

So why is that important?

Because the world needs your Vision. The world deserves your version of those brilliant ideas. There is only one ‘you’ in the world, and the way you interface with it makes your ideas and contributions special; your Inner Genius is unique to you.

But there’s more.

The saying “an idea whose time has come” is so true; eventually, brilliance rises to the surface. It begs for a conduit to birth it into the world. So why not you? Why not let it be YOU who brings it out? It’s time to listen to your Inner Genius.

There is no nobility in humbly placing your dreams on the shelf, so get moving and share your gift with the world. Even if you’re not ‘ready’. Even if you’re not sure. Even if it seems like a silly idea, a foolish concept, or something that others may laugh at (kind of like the personal computer and cell phone were at the point of conception). Even if you fall on your face in the first few attempts, be the one who brings it to the world.

Do it today. The world is waiting, but the brilliance won’t.

Steve Jobs and his influence on the world

If you ever want an example of Mission Accomplishment lived as a lifestyle, observe the life of Steve Jobs. To call him an “Apple co-founder” or “CEO of Pixar Animation” is too limiting. To collect a list of the innovations he birthed in his 56 years of life on Earth would be a travesty to the impact he made on countless people who never held an iPod or iPhone in their hands.

Steve Jobs was much more than a leader of the tech world, he was a leader of the real world. He was much more than a man with a Vision, he was a Visionary. There will never be another Steve Jobs in the world, ever. But the kind of genius he exuded, the Vision he developed and shared with the world and the passion he had for a life well-lived exists in all of us. Right now.

Watch this incredible video of the commencement speech he gave at Stanford University. I first saw it in 2008 when I was going through a particularly tough time in life. To me, it exemplifies Mission Accomplishment because Steve captures the essence of living your life Mission. It’s not about making money or having tons of adoring fans, it is about happiness.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Everything else is secondary.”
~ Steve Jobs

Thank you, Steve. While you are already dearly missed, your legacy and influence live on for eternity.
